From a small rural initiative to a national movement, discover how Eureka has been transforming lives since 2016.
The Beginning (2016)
In 2016, amidst the rising Anglophone crisis in Cameroon, Melim, a rural community near Kumbo, saw schools close, and youth left idle. Rosine Makanaky, the founder and Director of Crystal Center, a non-profit supporting children with special needs, saw the need for action. She reached out to Nfon Mark Benyou and Wirba Peter to create a youth club within the resource center and library of the organization.

Overcoming Adversity
During the height of the Anglophone crisis, Eureka faced immense challenges as movement restrictions and conflict made it nearly impossible for the youth to gather in person. With schools closed and uncertainty looming, our mission of empowering young people became even more critical. However, the ongoing crisis forced us to rethink how we could continue engaging with the community.
Determined to keep our programs alive, we quickly adapted by shifting to digital platforms. WhatsApp became our primary tool for hosting discussions, sharing opportunities, and maintaining the camaraderie of our youth group. Later, we expanded to Facebook, creating an online space where members could connect, learn, and grow despite the conflict around them.
Eureka Today
Eureka has grown from a small youth club into a recognized non-profit organization with a mission to create lasting impact in communities across Cameroon. With a strong focus on youth empowerment, environmental preservation, and education promotion, Eureka has become a beacon of hope for many.
Our programs aim to inspire young people to realize their potential, advocate for environmental sustainability, and provide access to education and opportunities that were once out of reach. We have expanded our reach beyond Melim to serve communities throughout Cameroon, supporting initiatives that uplift and empower individuals from diverse backgrounds.
